Sharon M. Dulberg, Esq.
Ms. Dulberg, a California Board Certified Specialist in Immigration and Nationality Law, is a partner of McVey Mullery Dulberg & Cho. She obtained her Bachelor's degree from Cornell University and her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1994, the same year in which she was admitted to practice with the State Bar of California. A frequent speaker with the American Immigration Lawyer's Association, Ms. Dulberg served as Chairperson for the Association's Northern California Chapter from June 2003-June 2004. In the past, Ms. Dulberg has served as Treasurer, Secretary, Vice Chair and Liaison for the Association's Northern California Chapter.
She has been
named a Super Lawyer for the years 2005 and 2006 by a peer
review process through San Francisco Magazine. Ms. Dulberg is well-known for her expertise in representing gay, lesbian and transgender immigrants in asylum and family based matters as well as helping those fleeing persecution based on religious beliefs. Ms. Dulberg has successfully argued cases before the Ninth Circuit
including Freire v. Ashcroft,
in which the Ninth Circuit overturned the lower court decision
on constitutional grounds.
Rosy H. Cho, Esq.
Ms. Cho is a partner at McVey Mullery Dulberg & Cho. She
obtained her J.D. from the University of California at Berkeley,
Boalt Hall School of Law, and was admitted to practice law in
California in 1994. Ms. Cho has a Bachelors degree from Amherst
College in Amherst, Massachusetts where she majored in English
and Political Science. Ms. Cho, whose practice focuses on family
immigration, deportation defense and appeals, has helped
hundreds of families unite and defend against deportation. Ms.
Cho is a member of the America Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA)
and currently serves as AILA's liaison to the Immigration and
Customs Enforcement unit of the Department of Homeland Security.
Ms. Cho serves the immigrant community as a mentor to
the Pro Bono Asylum Program of the Lawyers Committee for Civil
Rights and as a member of the Fund Development Board for Centro
Legal de La Raza. Ms. Cho has successfully argued cases before
the Ninth Circuit including
Algarne v. Ashcroft and
Becerra-Larios v.
Ashcroft, in which the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals
overturned the lower courts' decisions and granted new hearings
at which both clients were granted permanent residency. In
Korin v. Ashcroft, Ms. Cho
persuaded the Ninth Circuit to overturn the lower court's denial
of asylum and order a new hearing.
Hillary Ronen, Esq.
Ms. Ronen joined
McVey Mullery Dulberg & Cho in September of 2005 as a part-time
attorney. She graduated from the University of California at
Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law in 2003 and is a member of
the California State Bar. She received a B.A. in Sociology from
the University of California, San Diego. Ms. Ronen also works as
the Director of the Worker’s Rights Unit at La Raza Centro Legal
in San Francisco, where she specializes in the rights of
immigrants in the workplace. Ms. Ronen has lived in England,
Spain, and the Dominican Republic and is fluent in Spanish.
Anna D. Batista, Senior Paralegal
Anna immigrated to the United States from El Salvador as a young girl. She graduated from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, CA in 1970. She worked at the office of the San Francisco Legal Aid Society for four years as a legal secretary and interpreter. After graduation Anna worked at the law firm of Fallon, Hargreaves, Bixby & McVey (now Fallon, Bixby, Cheng & Lee) in San Francisco as a paralegal. She provided 18 years of service to the firm. In 1989 Anna joined the Law Offices of Gerald L. McVey (now McVey Mullery Dulberg & Cho) in San Francisco as a senior paralegal and has been with the firm for 16 years. Anna is also a notary public and fluent in Spanish.
Nadia Grosfoguel-Mejia, Paralegal
Nadia Grosfoguel-Mejia was born in Puerto Rico and has been living in San Francisco since 1993. She received her B.A. in 2004 from UC Santa Cruz in Latin American and Latino Studies and Sociology. As an undergraduate, she studied abroad in France for six months. Nadia worked as a Research Assistant at Stanford University studying obesity and diabetes in the Latino and African-American communities. She joined our firm in December 2006 as a Paralegal. She is a weekly volunteer at La Raza Centro Legal. Her interests include reading novels based on historical events, listening to music, and traveling. Graduate/Professional school is constantly on her mind, particularly Law and Clinical Social Work.
Ariana Zeno, Paralegal
Ariana Zeno joined McVey Mullery Dulberg & Cho in April of 2007. She received her B.A. in American Studies from Wesleyan University in 2005. As an undergraduate, she studied abroad in Argentina
and worked with various disenfranchised groups. She wrote her thesis about their struggle with the government in Buenos Aires. Ariana worked at the Garment Worker Center in Los Angeles in 2003 fighting for workers’ rights and against sweatshops. In 2005, she returned to Argentina and lived there for a year, working as an English teacher and translator. Ariana is fluent in Spanish and interested in international relations.
